when the moon hits your eye

sometimes I even amaze myself.

I was a little nervous before I put this puppy in the oven.  Thank god for the broil function because the dough was still white 2 mins before it was supposed to come out of the oven.

I think the toppings were good (toppings being caramelized onions, herbed goat cheese, fresh basil, turkey sausage, mozzarella & pesto sauce) but the crust wasn't as good as Pizza Hut's crust.  Nothing will ever beat their crust.  This is a good second though.

lemony goodness

I had thawed a couple of salmon fillets overnight & didn't want to do the same old boring grilled salmon with steamed veggies.  I took a gander on the epicurious site & found an intriguing recipe for salmon with lentils and mustard herb butter.

Started off with the leek & lentil concoction.  And then finished off with the salmon that was treading in herbed butter.

Pumpkin ginger & maple syrup biscuits. I've also nicknamed them 'pumpkin bombs'.

Clearly I need to start cooking with a new herb.

starting with soup

It's a new year & a new start.  cliche, non?  well, whatever, I thought it would be good time to get my butt off the couch & actually spend time with myself instead of the movie network. All this while doing something that I used to love - cooking.  Winter has finally shown itself and a roasted squash & apple soup seemed like the right fit.

Is there anything better than the smell of roasting vegetables covered in rosemary?

Is there anything worse than taking your blender out of the cupboard only to find out that part of it is missing & now unusable, ugh.  I ended up having to hand blend the entire contents of the roasting pan. Which led me to dig out the apron my mother in law made me (and had yet to be used) as the soup ended up in my hair as well as all over the counter.  I can tell that this is going to be a fun year of experimentation

...and a tasty one at that.  First soup success!
